User Guide DatingBBW™
DatingBBW™ is specifically aimed at BBWs and the men who adore them.
What Now?
After registration and receiving the link, you login to DatingBBW™ and find yourself on the front page with the latest news.
How Does It All Work?
The heart of the DatingBBW™ website is a set of powerful search facilities where users and members can go and undertake searches for suitable partners in all locations throughout the UK and Ireland. It is possible to narrow down your searches by adding a large variety of criteria to the user forms. See Contact. As you have guessed, DatingBBW™ distinguishes between registered users and members. i.e. those who pay for our service and have access to all the features of our system and Registered Users i.e. those who have restricted access to our service.
Why Become A Member?
Our system and our service respectively were created on behalf of members to find and contact other members and develop relationships of whatever nature. Of course, we wish to give our members the widest possible choice in interesting partners to choose from, so we attempt to create a large and continuously growing client base. The primary difference between a registered user and a member is the fact that only members are capable of exchanging personal information with other members such as e-mail addresses, telephone numbers and other relevant information necessary for members to contact each other personally and if there is a match they are likely to meet and date.
Registered users have ample opportunity to decide if there are possible potential partners among our thousands of users and members who they are sufficiently interested in to take out a membership, make contact and go out on a date with.
Note: Registered Users will only be able to actively connect/date with others when they directly exchange contact details with other members. In order to do so the registered user is required to take out a membership. Such membership, giving access to all the functions and features can already be obtained at a price of £4.99.

News
Clicking on News navigates you to the Home Page with the Latest News items on DatingBBW™, always check if there is any interesting information, new tools, new developments etc.
Contact:
The Contact list of menus (
Figure 2) gives you access to the profiles of the people on the DatingBBW™ database and allows you to undertake specific searches.
Figure 2
Favourites
Click on this menu item if you wish to see your list of favourites (those people you decide you like best out of the users you have seen as a result of the searches you have done) or if you want to see who added you to their list of favourites. You can add profiles of people you like to your Favourites List. (See Profiles)
Search
Click on this menu item if you want to do a simple search for suitable partners. The following search options are available:
Woman looking for
Man (
Figure 3) or
Man looking for
Woman! (
Figure 4) The third alternative is
Woman looking for
Woman (see
Figure 4).
Note: Men cannot look for other men on DatingBBW™.
Age: The two pull down menus allow you to search for suitable partners within a certain age bracket. In order to limit your search for potential partners between the given age brackets, please click on the required maximum and/or minimum age. When not used, this function will result in all men/women of all ages.
Figure: Click on the required size/figure you wish to search for. (Women looking for men do not have a search option for
Figure).
Show photographs only: By clicking on this option you will generate a list of those potential partners who have added a photograph to their profiles.
Members who joined: In order to generate a list of potential partners who joined DatingBBW™ on after or before a certain date, click on the relevant pull down menus and click on the parameters given in the menu (s).
Note: The
Search facility is a simplified and limited version of the
Detailed Search option, but is still very powerful. It allows you to do quick searches with only a few parameters. The search data that you enter is cumulative across all search options. So if you put in an age limit and click on photographs and give details on a certain joining date, the result is a list of potential partners who fulfill all the specifications across the menu items. If you wanted to specify only photographs or only people who have joined today, you have to leave the other search options blank.
Please be aware that by adding too many parameters, you may end up with no search results; in that case you should make some alterations and limit your search to fewer parameters. Please try this search function and experiment, before you move on to
Detailed Search.
Username Search
Click on this menu item if you want to do search for somebody who you already have seen before. If you are not entirely sure what the username of the person is you are looking for, please enter only that part of the username that you can remember. If for instance you put in just the letter "an" you will get a list of all the profiles whose username starts with the letter "an". Please note that by using this function you will get a list of profiles of both male and female users.
Detailed Search
This is by far the most comprehensive search function. The
Detailed Search allows you to narrow down your searches by entering a variety of search parameters.
As in the
Search page, you can tick your preferences for gender, again Men can only search for women, women can search for men or for other women.
There is also the option for searching for profiles containing photographs only.
Note: The use of photographs is very important. Most people tend to search for profiles with photographs. We can highly recommend that you upload a photograph into your profile. In order to find out how to do this, see the chapter on
Change/Add Photographs below.
The option for location allows you to choose the country and county, so you will generate a list of users from those particular countries and counties. Click on Country and tick the box for
Search by County wait until the screen refreshes. When you now click on the specific county you wish to search in, a list of people in that particular county will be generated. If you wish to search in more than one county, please hold the SHIFT key whilst clicking on those counties you wish to search in. If you do not tick the
Search by County box, you will generate a list of all users in that particular country.
Note: In addition to counties we have, for your convenience, also added various large Cities that you can click on for your location search.
Apart from age and height, where you can set your own preferences chosen from pull down menus and create age or height restrictions, all other search options are tick boxes. The exception is
Perfume. By typing in the name of a perfume, a list of all the people who mentioned this perfume in their profile will be generated.
It would be possible for instance to generate a list of profiles of all women who live in England, have a photograph on their profiles, are over 25 years old, are not taller than 5'9 and use Chanel perfume.
To do this:
- click on woman in the top search option
- then tick the Profiles with Photographs Only box
- click on England in the Country box
- do not click on Search By County
- in Min Age click on 25, (leave the max age box blank)
- in Max Height click on 5'9" (leave min height blank)
- Type the word Chanel in the Favourite Perfume box
- Leave all other fields blank
- click on the SEARCH box at the bottom of the page
The result will be visible after a few seconds.
There are an infinite number of search options and possibilities. Please experiment with the search options and click boxes to your hearts content so you will be able to pinpoint what you are looking for.
Many people use the detailed search option on a daily basis and only click on the last but one option:
Members who joined. They then click on: One Day Ago and they can see if in the last 24 hours any new users have joined who they could be interested in. If you have not been on-line for several days, use any of the other relevant
Members who joined timescale options so you are always up to date with the latest intake of new users and members. Equally, if you are interested in who has been on line recently you can use the timescale option in:
Members who last visited.
When you have created a satisfactory list of profiles, we suggest that if you want to maintain that list you have found and go back there, instead of clicking directly on one of the profiles in your list that you wish to open, use the
right hand button on your
mouse when clicking on a profile and click the
Open in new Window option in the drop down menu. (note: this is a standard MS Windows function, not a datingbbw™ function). You now see your required profile in a new window. When you have finished browsing the profile, close the window and you automatically return to your generated list. If you directly click on the profile you wish to browse, you will lose your last list. Using the
BACK option of your browser may not always automatically get you back to your last search list.
Who's On
The Who's On option generates a list of all people who are currently on-line, either doing searches, writing or reading messages or vacate the Chat Room
Profiles

Figure 5 (Click To Enlarge)
When undertaking searches, you will see, as a result of your search, a list of people of which some details and perhaps a photograph visible (depending on whether the user has decided he/she wants their photograph on their profile) in a small rectangular field. Clicking on the username or photograph (if available) will show the entire profile. This contains all the information that the user wrote and filled in during registration and perhaps edited later. You will be able to read about their personal and professional information, status and also what they are looking for. Some are very witty, others are straight forward. Some write a lot about themselves, some very little. Clicking on the photograph on the profile shows you a larger version of the photograph. If people have added more than one photograph they are visible in thumbnail format and can be clicked to be enlarged. Clicking on the Browse "username"'s profile, gets you back to the profile.
You also notice that below the photograph, or the space where the photograph should be located, are a number of cyan menu options (see Figure 6)

Figure 6
Send Message
The send message option navigates you to the message page where you find a
header box and a
body box. The header box requires a heading for the message. Not writing a header causes a problem, the recipient will not be able to open the message.
The body part of the message page will give you the opportunity to write your message. Although the box appears only to allow you a limited number of lines, it will expand and allow you to write longer messages.
Note: it is prohibited to include personal details in your messages. Our system filters for e-mail addresses, or references to e-mail addresses, however obscure you write your e-mail address, the system will discover it and you risk being banned from the service as there are strict house rules on this issue.
In addition to e-mail addresses, telephone numbers, ICQ numbers, references to MSN, Yahoo, Excite and other groups are also
NOT permitted. This sort of information can only be exchanged in the
Chat Room. See Chat room. If you do include any personal information in your messages, the message will not reach the intended recipient and will be returned to you with a warning and a request to remove the forbidden information. Any further violations and attempts to fool the system will be punished with an unconditional ban.
Block User
If you have decided that you do not wish to receive any further messages from the user whose profile you have opened, you can click on the above
Block User option. You will then be asked for a confirmation. When confirmed, no messages from the user will reach you from that moment onwards. It is always possible to unblock a user. Follow the same procedure, open the profile of the user you wish to receive messages from again and click on
Block User, after the confirmation you can receive messages from the user again.
Add to Favourites
It is possible to create a list with people who you would consider to be your favourites. The list contains the profiles of those you have a preference for and who you wish to contact. Or you may add them to your Favourites list because you like the look of them and you want to read their profile a bit more thoroughly. You can add anybody to your list of favourites by just clicking on the menu item when you have opened that particular person's profile. When that person is added to your list of profiles and you open his/her profile, the menu item Add to Favourites has been replaced by Remove from Favourites. Clicking on Remove from Favourites allows you, after a confirmation to remove that person from your Favourites' list. The cyan Favourites menu on the left hand side of your screen also has an option to show you who have placed you on their list of favourites.
You are always notified by DatingBBW™ via e-mail when somebody has added you to their list of favourites and by clicking on View Users, who add me to Favourite at the top of the screen, you get a list of people who have added you to their list of favourites.
Notes
This option allows you to write some notes about the person whose profile you have opened. You could use it as a diary for instance so that you know when you have received messages from that person or when you expect to find that person in the chatroom. You can also make specific notes on why you like that person, or even why you dislike that person.
Special Message 1, 2, 3
It is possible to send special messages to the person whose profile you have opened. You do not have to be a member to use this option and you can use it as an indicator if the person you like is also interested in you. When you send a special message and receive a response, you know that the interest is mutual and you can take it from there. There are three special messages with predefined text that you can send:
- Special message 1: I like the look of you!
- Special message 2: I am very interested in you!
- Special message 3: I fancy you like mad!
It is possible to ask the admin team to temporarily hide your profile. If you are going on a date or do not wish to receive messages for a while, or you just do not wish people to see you profile for a while, your profile can be hidden by admin. Just send an e-mail to
admin@datingbbw.co.uk and your profile will be hidden from other users. Another e-mail to release your profile again will make sure it will be visible again.
The bottom of the profile shows you when the profile was created, how long a person has been a user/member of DatingBBW. It shows when the owner of the profile had access to DatingBBW™ last and how many times the profile was browsed by others. This information is also visible on your own profile, so you can see how many times your profile has been browsed.
Photo of the Week
When you log in, you enter the front page. At the bottom of the front page are always some profiles of people who randomly have been chosen as
Photo of the Week. The people chosen to be part of that list tend to get a lot of exposure. They are browsed frequently because their photograph is visible. Should you wish to be Photograph of the week, please e-mail
admin@datingbbw.co.uk and your request will be considered. If granted, you will see your photograph as
photo of the week when you log in at some time in the future.
My Account
The
My Account list of menus (
Figure 7) give you access to your profile, allows you to upload photographs into your profile, allow you to close your account, shows you the agony aunt section and giving you the option to send your own problems to be commented on. It also lets you log out of DatingBBW.
Figure 7
My Profile
Clicking on this menu option shows you your own profile the way other people in DatingBBW™ see it.
Edit Profile
Editing your profile opens the first page of the profile editing function. The
Edit Profile function is almost identical to the pages you saw and filled in when you registered with DatingBBW. Apart from your
username and
headline all other parts of your profile can be changed or added to. The
username and
headline data is hard-coded in our system and cannot be changed. It contains your identity as a user or member. Should you wish to change either
username or
headline, you will need to reregister with us and inform
admin@datingbbw.co.uk by e-mail. There are downsides to re-registration, you will disappear from favourite lists, lose all your messages, and lose your own favourites, not to mention transferring memberships and having to use your credit card again after your automatic payment has been stopped. You can however, if you wish to do so, change your password and/or your e-mail address. If you do change your password and/or e-mail address, you will receive a confirmation e-mail with your new password and/or e-mail address, for safe keeping. It is a breach of House Rules to add personal information such as e-mail addresses, telephone numbers, ICQ numbers etc. to your profile other then in the required places.
NOTE: Adding such information creates the risk of an immediate ban from our service.
Add Photograph
Clicking on the
Add Photograph option brings you to the
Add/Change photograph page.
Before you add a photograph to your profile, you need to know where on your own computer the photograph you wish to upload is located. Please make sure that you know in advance where your photograph is on your system. You also need to know the exact file name of your photograph. This is essential for uploading. The files formats we allow are: jpg, png and gif. If you are unsure which file format your photograph is in, use a graphics application such as Paint, which is available on all windows versions,
(START, All Programs, Accessories, Paint) to load your image and save it as a jpg file. Do the same with .bmp files; those are notoriously large and may cause problems. The maximum file size is 420k. Larger file sizes will not properly upload your photograph. If you have problems with file formats and sizes, please e-mail your photograph to
admin@datingbbw.co.uk and we would be happy to adapt your photograph, make it suitable for our requirements and return it to you by e-mail, ready for uploading.
To upload your photograph, do the following:
Click on the browse button, you will see a folder on your own computer, if this is not the folder that contains the photograph, go to the folder that does and click on the name of the photograph and then on the
OPEN button. Now click on the
UPLOAD button. The photograph will now be uploaded.
Although your photograph is now visible, it does not mean that it has been approved and will also be visible on your profile. When the photograph has been uploaded, a message appears at the top of your screen informing you that you will have to wait until our admin team has approved your photograph. The maximum time you will have to wait for approval is 24 hours.
If your photograph has been approved, you will receive a confirmation e-mail and the photograph will become automatically visible on your profile. You will also be informed by e-mail if your photograph has not been approved. Sometimes you receive a message that your photograph has been refused. This could be because it exceeded the file size or because the file format was incorrect, not because it violated our standards of decency, although the e-mail may refer to that.
You are allowed to upload a maximum of 3 photographs.
If you do not have a suitable photograph on your computer but you have some prints that you would like to upload, please send them (together with a SAE to get the photographs returned to you) to
DatingBBW
P.O.Box 213
Wilmslow,
Cheshire
SK9 3WX.
We will scan them for you and place them in your profile.
When you have more than one photograph uploaded, you can rotate your photographs and decide which one is your
Main one. Below the header
List of Photographs you will see your uploaded photographs. On the right hand side you see 2 menu options: [
delete], [
set main] or [
unset main], clicking on
delete allows you to remove your photograph,
set main will allow you to use this particular photograph as the one that everybody sees when searching and it is also the main photograph on your profile. Clicking on
unset main will make this photograph invisible when people see the lists of search results that contain you.
Photographs depicting excessive nudity, cartoons and other photographs which are not an image of you as a person, showing your face as clearly visible, are prohibited. See our
Terms & Conditions.
Membership
This option brings you straight to the membership page. Listed here are the various membership options varying from £4.99 for 4 days to £59.99 for 6 months. (See
Figure 8)
Figure 8 (Click To Enlarge)
Clicking on one of the membership options gets you to the next screen which confirms what you will be charged.
In the case of monthly, 3 monthly and 6 monthly membership, it is clearly stated that for your convenience, your membership with be automatically renewed, so you would not miss out on any messages you have been sent or any chat room access. The 4 day memberships are not automatically renewed.
When you have read the information on payment, the next screen connects you to NetBanx (
Figure 8a), where the actual payment takes place. You are asked to fill in your details which are checked and if there are sufficient funds on your credit card and your credit card has not exceeded its expiry date, the money is taken from your account. When payment has taken place, you will receive a confirmation from NetBanx and the transaction has become irreversible. If there is a problem with your credit card, you will also be notified by NetBanx.
Figure 8a (Click To Enlarge)
If you do not wish to pay by credit card (4 day membership's credit card payments are mandatory) you can pay your monthly membership by postal order or by cheque. If you have no other option, we also accept cash. The easiest form of payment remains the credit card or the postal order. When using your credit card, your membership will be activated immediately. Upon receipt of your postal order we will activate your membership. When you have made a payment by postal order or cheque, on your profile a counter will be visible telling you how many days you have left on your membership. DatingBBW™ will send you an e-mail to remind you that you need to renew your membership in time in order to have uninterrupted access to the membership features and functions.
The credit card payments take place over a 100% secure line. Our bureau partner, who act as intermediates between the various credit card companies, are a company called NetBanx. They are a renowned and reputable firm specialising in taking secure credit card payments via internet.
Agony Aunt
DatingBBW™ has an agony aunt by the name of Allison. If you have problems you wish to have an answer for or if you want to share your problems with others, you can send a message via the Agony Aunt page to Allison who will respond to you either in public (by putting your problem and her comments on screen) or privately by e-mail.
Cancel my account
When it comes to the moment that you wish to cancel your account The Cancel My Account page helps you to do so. If you are a member or not a member, we are always interested to find out why you are leaving the service. You can tick a box indicating your reason, or write what the reason is. Alternatively, if you wish, you can leave everything blank. When you are a member, you have the option to stop us renewing your membership before the current membership period finishes. You can choose to use up the rest of your membership and then revert back to user status. Alternatively if you wish to make your membership cancellation immediate and terminal, you can cancel your membership and your account and have your profile deleted instantly. The last option also makes clear that in accordance with our terms and conditions, if you terminate your membership immediately, there is no refund of membership fees.
Logout
This function is to logout of DatingBBW. It closes your profile and shows you the leaving screen.
Communication
The communication group of menus (
Figure 9) options allows you to contact other users and members of DatingBBW.
Figure 9
The menu options give you access to the messaging system which is a very important part of DatingBBW. When you are not a member you cannot write and send messages to others. This is a member only feature. You can however send 3 short pre-defined messages (see PROFILES).
As a member you can send messages to users and other members. You can send messages, view your own messages and the messages that you have received. In addition you can block messages from certain users and you can use the Chat Room.
Send message to...
If you know the username of the person you want to send a message to, it will not be necessary to open that person's profile, but you can type in his/her username and then be taken to the message page where you can write your header and your message body.
View Messages
When you are logged in, you know immediately when you have messages waiting for you as at the top of the screen there will be an announcement that
You Have Received A New Message!. The
view messages option allows you to go to your own messages page and see a list of new and old messages. (See
Figure 10)
Figure 10 (Click To Enlarge)
The messages with the word
YES in front of it have been read already by you. The ones with a blank tick box are unread. When you click on the message itself a window opens and shows you the content of the message and the header. In addition, you will see, below the message a number of options in cyan:
Reply - (only available when you are member) allowing you to respond and write back to the sender of the message
Delete - allowing you to delete the message,
Block user - stop receiving messages from the person who sent you the message.
View messages - to get back to your message centre.
Notes - to make notes on the person you have received messages from.
If you are in your Message Centre and you want to see the profile of the person who sent you the message before you actually opening the message, click on the username next to the message and his/her profile opens. If you have the message open, you can click on the username in cyan below the word
From, which also opens the profile of the sender.
In your Message Centre you can tick selected messages and then go to the bottom of the page and delete the messages you have ticked. There is also an option to view the messages that you have sent. Click on
View received messages and you will be shown a list of sent messages. To return to your received messages, go to the top and click on
View received messages.
You are always notified by DatingBBW™ via e-mail when somebody has sent you a message (
Figure 11).
Those e-mails look like this:
Figure 11 (Click To Enlarge)
Sometimes it can happen that you receive an e-mail from DatingBBW™ that there is a message waiting for you, however when you check that message may not be there. The reasons for that can be that the person who sent you this message has deleted his/her message again before you could read it, the person could have left the service, in which case all her/his messages have been automatically deleted, or the message may have contained personal information, such as an e-mail address or a telephone number, in which case the system filter has intercepted the message and deleted it.
If you send somebody a message and you do not receive a reply, it may not be that this person is rude or not interested in you, the reason could be that this person has not decided to take out a membership and is thus prevented from returning the compliment and replying to your message.
Block Messages
The Block Messages function brings you to a list of users you have blocked. From there you can decide if you wish to unblock certain users and receive messages from that person again.
The Chat Room
When you click on Chat Room, you will notice that the system loads a number of files in the memory of your computer. Those are all to do with JAVA, the language the chat room is written in, and all of the settings you can change.
The loading ends with a white screen and a connect button in the middle of the screen:

When you get logged off the main DatingBBW™ site because of inactivity or any other reasons such as network or internet connection problems, there is a 10 minute time delay before you can log back into the chatroom, as the chatroom holds your information for a further 10 minutes thinking that you are still there.
The reason this is done is so you can stay in the chatroom, without logging out, open another window (using ALT+TAB) and look for instance at profiles and then come back in, all without logging in and out of the chatroom.
When, after having been logged off DatingBBW™ for whatever reason and then logged back into DatingBBW™ again, you attempt to enter the chatroom within 10 minutes, the chatroom checks its own information, rejects your access and tells you that there is already somebody with your username inside (which is basically you from the last session). The chatroom will, after 10 minutes of inactivity, release you from the last session and then you can log back into the chatroom again.
